About Light & Landscape
For years, Light & Landscape was a top landscape photography magazine app on iTunes. We’ve since transitioned to a cross-platform friendly format to make our content accessible to a wider audience. To deliver on our goals, we use a mix of educational articles, insightful industry interviews and inspirational contributions from our engaged readership outlining their experiences.
Light & Landscape was founded as a personal project in 2013 by photographer Matt Reid. Working as a military staff photographer, Matt wanted to put his photography skills to a more creative and wholesome purpose outside of his day job. A colleague suggested landscape photography and Matt immediately immersed himself in the genre. In order to learn from more experienced landscape photographers, Matt began publishing a free landscape photography magazine (as an app on iOS) and invited established landscape photographers to be interviewed and/or submit articles. To his surprise, the response was overwhelming and, over a 10 year period, he built up a comprehensive and authoritative body of landscape photography educational content, thanks to the loyalty and generosity of the community that had formed around Light & Landscape.
Unfortunately, changes in Apple policy forced the discontinuation of the magazine. However, all the content is slowly being transferred to this website in order that it remain available as a valuable resource to landscape photographers the world over. If you would like to submit a selection of landscape photographs with a post or an article, or even just a suggestion, please don’t hesitate to reach out via the Contact page.
